Do you express yourself freely, lovingly, and truthfully?
In Yoga we look towards the “how” more than the “what” in terms of the words we use. Am I speaking with a sense of calm, peace and love? If not, it is likely better not to speak at all until I can learn more about why the issue is so charged for me. Can I choose to listen instead, and respond when I am in a more centered place?
Recent research on “venting” is showing interesting things about how speaking with anger brings more harm to the person venting than it does help. It seems that it escalates the emotion rather than releasing it.
Let us love and take care of our negative thoughts, both towards ourselves and others, by attending to them but not feeding them. Let us choose to do more loving things for ourselves in these moments, and the result will be a more peaceful future for all.
