Yoga of Nutrition
Let Love for your Self be your focus when it comes to nutrition.
Yoga living brings us to our natural state-a state most describe as calm, clear, and peaceful. Our negative self-talk takes us away from this light within. It is important to be gentle and loving with ourselves on our path toward better nutrition. Regardless of what we eat, our thoughts about it may be more harmful than the food itself. Let us find balance and make small changes that will last because they are in harmony with our own pace and path.
Let Yoga practices enhance your awareness, and notice how that expands your awareness of everything in life.
As we become more aware of our body and breath in our yoga practice, this new understanding transfers to all of life, including a greater awareness of why we make certain food choices, and how those choices feel afterwards. Try breathing fully before you eat, and after you eat, to notice how it affects your choices and experience with food. Take some time to do a few yoga poses on your own and simply notice being present with your body. Practice relaxation and meditation and notice how you make decisions differently from a place of ease and clarity.
Notice how you feed and nourish all layers (Koshas) of your being.
Body: How do certain foods make you feel?
Energy: What people, environments or activities inspire or deplete your energy?
Emotion: Do you eat to fill an emotional need? How can you best feed your emotional Self?
Intellect: What thoughts do you have before choosing a particular food? How do you feed your mind nourishing thoughts?
Spirit: How do you feed your Soul? Nature? Journaling? Community? Meditation?
The Yoga of Nutrition has no rules other than to remind you to notice what works for you, what is true for you, and what blocks your path towards health and wholeness. This is Your Path. It is up to you! Consider journaling your choices in this next week. Be with what is. Notice and learn more about yourself. Let go of any judgment. Trust that you will move slowly but surely towards better health and well-being.
