This phrase spoke to me on my walk: “We are Eachother”. In my mind, the two words were combined, which makes perfect sense for this particular essay.
They are technically two separate words, which is a nice metaphor for the way in which we think we are “other” or that “they are other”. In Truth, when we try on the idea “We are eachother”, our hearts will heal, we will help and uplift one-another and, relationship by relationship, the world will find Peace.
In my 15 years of talking with students about Yoga, and about Life, one of the most common denominators is a feeling of separation. Loneliness. Lack of worth. Sadness. Anger to cover that sadness. Sigh. Yes.
And so, what can we do? Come together. Reach out. Start a conversation with another. I call this sacred conversation. Sacred comes from the root sanctus, which means holy but also to give value and respect. Perhaps we can have the courage to tell someone about our sadness and loneliness. Perhaps they tell us they feel that way too. Maybe we feel a sense of togetherness even in our sadness and uncertainty about life. Maybe we learn that we disagree about something (in our mind), and that this is also okay. More often than not, if our intention is sacred conversation, we leave with a “richness of experience”. It is not happy per se, but a bit closer to what I think Holiness is.
And this is what Oneness is all about. Try this idea when someone triggers you (family member, politician, coworker, friend). They are reflecting back your soul’s readiness to feel a deep-seated sadness, anger or pain. The person who triggers us is the gift, as the old karma or pattern comes to the surface to be released. Let us say to them in quiet contemplation, “I love you. Thank you. Bless you.”
As we feel the energy of that statement, notice the feeling of Wholeness. Of 'eachother'. It is unconditional love, a vibration that can not be understood by the mind, but felt by the heart and experienced as a deep, intuitive knowing of the spirit.
I have heard that the energy of the Universe is “neutral”. This can be a guiding star. We can notice when we are not feeling neutral and go within for healing and creating space in your daily routine to do the things that promote and cultivate this higher vibration of neutrality, peace, love. Come to yoga class, join others in sacred conversation, sit in nature, breathe deeply, be present, listen.
May we support and uplift 'eachother'.
