Recognition of the Opposites
Hatha Yoga represents the path of Yoga dedicated to balancing the ha (sun) and tha (moon) in our energetic being. It is a recognition of the opposites within us, an acceptance of those energies (positive or negative), and a conscious re-balancing. We will continue to explore these themes in our Yoga classes, as Spring provides an opportune time for cleansing, harmonizing and balancing our being.
We can not help but notice the "budding out" of nature, and the hope that comes as we witness new growth, increased color and warmth, and the energy which pushes plants, bulbs and flowers up out of the earth. Is some idea growing within you, ready to bud out? This may be a good time to harness the energy of Spring, allowing new ideas to manifest through you.
Hatha Yoga helps us begin with our body. Though the mind, body and spirit are one, and not three, we are often dominated by our mental processes, which is an imbalance in our being. By focusing on Hatha Yoga practices such as poses, breathing and energetic practices, we can bypass the limitations of our mind at the same time we create the energetic environment in which our mind can remain calm and one-pointed. We create the inner environment in which a more subtle and powerful energy can be experienced—our highest consciousness.
