Yoga for Calm Series
Sunday, March 04, 2018, 06:00pm - 07:30pm
Carter Siegel, Dido Nydick and Julie Rost
In this series we will explore 3 types of yoga that calm the body and the mind. In these practices we will support a healthy flow of energy and a quiet, calm nervous system. We will be guided and supported while we move through the multiple aspects of our whole being (body, breath, and mind) in an effort to ultimately let go of any holding or resistance. You are welcome to participate in the entire series or just individual sessions. We look forward to having you in the studio and in community! This series is open to all levels of yoga practitioners.
Cost: $25 per class, $90 for full series (registration required for all classes)
Yoga Nidra with Carter Siegel
March 4 and 11, 6:00-7:30pm
Yoga Nidra is often referred to as "yogic sleep," a paradoxical state of being between sleep and consciousness that's conducive to deep emotional and physical healing, rewiring your brain, and self-exploration. Yoga Nidra is gaining popularity because it's an antidote to our modern lifestyles. As a culture, we're always connected, often stressed, and our nervous systems are constantly in a fight-or-flight, sympathetic state. Yoga Nidra is an effective and efficient way to access the "rest and digest" parasympathetic state, which is where healing happens. Yoga Nidra will help you rest, restore, de-stress, increase awareness, undo bad habits, and eventually understand your true self. We will first explore asana, set an intention, then settle ourselves in for a guided yoga nidra practice. Open to all levels of yoga practitioners.
Restorative Yoga with Dido Nydick
March 18, 6:00-7:30pm
The Restorative Yoga practice consists of reclining pose sequences in which each pose is set up with a variety of props to induce the nervous system’s natural relaxation response. It is an experience noted for accessing one's intuition and sensing an unfettered mind and a body of ease. Whether one seeks to heal, to cultivate energy or to be creative, the Restorative Yoga practice is beneficial and intended for all students.
Meditation with Julie Rost
March 25, 6:00-7:30pm
Meditation brings a calm and “peace that passeth understanding”. The Meditation class in this Series will offer an overview of the benefits of Meditation, a simple review of the 6 types of practice, an opportunity to discover which style works best for you, as well as information for teachers assisting their students on the meditation journey. We will incorporate modern science and ancient wisdom to inspire our ongoing practice of quieting the mind. The class will include 20 minutes of gentle stretching to prepare the students for seated meditation practice.
