Class is cancelled today. Yoga and Cancer
Monday, May 27, 2019, 04:30pm - 05:30pm
This repeat is an exception to the normal repeat pattern
Cancer survivors and caregivers are welcome to participate in these free classes. No yoga experience is necessary and classes are free to all participants newly diagnosed, in cancer treatment or recovery as well as caregivers. Classes will include yoga postures, flowing movements and pranayama (focus on breath) to help students achieve relaxation and mobility in everyday life. Conscious effort to link breath with movement helps relieve tension and helps students gain flexibility and improve strength in the body.
Meredith Kolodze Meredith completed her 200 hour training at the Yoga Life Institute in NH. She has also completed the Yoga 4 Cancer Training with Tari Prinster. As an oncology social worker, Meredith believes that caring for the whole person is essential to our health and well being. So often when we are ill, the focus is on medications, and we don't realize that there are many other things that can assist us in living with, or recovering from, cancer. Meredith felt that there was a place for yoga in oncology care and set about finding a way to connect her passions as a social worker and a yogini. She is currently teaching a class for patients at Exeter Hospital through their Cancer Well Fit Program. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, spending time with family and friends, her crazy cairn terrier, Jack, cat, Agave Aphrodite, and five chickens.
