Yoga for Balance with Leigh Sloss

Thursday, May 23, 2019, 11:00am - 12:00pm

“Balance is not something you find, it’s something you create”
Jana Kingsford

chair yogaGuided by the ethical foundation of the Yamas and Niyamas Yoga for Balance is a slow paced practice that takes time to move through range of motion for joints as we build body awareness, adding accessible postures that build stability (sthira) and comfort (sukha). Allowing time to observe the breath and develop breathing techniques, pranayama, will not only benefit our physical body but bring balance to emotional states of mind, the Sattvic state of mind.

Explore alignment supported by chairs both seated and standing and experience the balance between effort and ease and how this may impact the state of balance in broader areas of our lives. This class is welcoming and accessible to all.

Leigh Sloss

sloss leighLeigh Sloss, M.Ed, RYT500, is a graduate of the YogaLife Institute's Comprehensive Yoga Therapy program and the 200 hour Classical Yoga Teacher Training program. Leigh is also a certified K-8 teacher and has a Masters in Education.

"I began practicing yoga in college and then as an elementary school teacher as a way of handling stress. As a new mom, I found that yoga helped me learn to balance caring for myself while also caring for others. The more I learned about yoga philosophy the more I wanted to deepen my understanding of it. The 200 hour program at YogaLife was so profound for me that I felt the need to learn more in order to share it with others. Yoga Therapy feels like what I've always wanted to do for my life's work. It combines my many interests - education, psychology, movement, and spirituality.

My hope is to make yoga accessible to all people and to make it applicable to the real world. I enjoy sharing the benefits of yoga with people of all ages, and am particularly passionate about working with children dealing with stress and anxiety.

Yoga for me is about connection. First, it's a connection with ourselves on all levels. From that connection, we can grow to realize that we are all connected.”
