Aging with Ease Yoga
Grace, wisdom, experience and perspective are all gifts of aging. Support your well-being with this slow, steady, accessible yoga practice that incorporates breath work, guided meditation, joint freeing movements and classical yoga postures. Some benefits of a regular practice are improved balance, stability and flexibility. Yoga supports joint health, bone density, improves respiration, reduces anxiety as it builds concentration, self confidence and encourages mindfulness. Depression is helped through social connection and making a positive lifestyle choice. All are welcome. No experience needed. Props and modifications will be available.
Janis Sheldon, RYT-500, YACEP. Her trainings include a 200 hr certification in 2006 from The Yoga of Energy Flow with Daniel Orlansky, pre-natal yoga training with Kripalu teacher and pre-natal educator Martha Chabinsky in August of 2008, Bone Camp Advanced Concepts in Movement for Osteoporosis and Spine Health with geriatric physical therapist and Kripalu yoga teacher Sara Meeks at Kripalu Nov. 2010, Level 1 in Positional Therapy with Lee Albert from Kripalu in May 2010, January 2012 Dr. Loren Fishman Ending Back Pain with Yoga Protocol, the 7 major causes of back pain, Nov. 2014 Yoga for Cancer certification with Tari Prinster, and a graduate of the Yogalife Institute 500 Hour Teacher Training program.
Janis is a lifelong student of yoga and has been teaching yoga since 2006. Her style is a blend of traditions that creates a gentle practice that is both strengthening and releasing, encouraging her students to listen to their body's wisdom and honor individual needs as they develop body awareness. Having had spine surgery in 2003 Janis shares her journey back to comfort and mobility in daily life through a gentle yoga practice. Her passion is movement that releases and strengthens low back, supports postural muscles and opens the spine and movement to free and stabilize major joints in the body for healthy aging. Safe and supportive for all levels.
