Class is cancelled today. Yoga II - Hatha Flow
Thursday, November 23, 2017, 09:00am - 10:30am
This repeat is an exception to the normal repeat pattern
This class is for All levels of ability and experience, but best for those who have at least some experience with Yoga. Classical Yoga philosophy will be presented at a deeper level, incorporating such topics as chakras, mudras, visualization, ancient texts, karma, and yoga psychology. Teachers will include a greater variety of postures, though all can be modified, as well as more advanced breathing techniques and longer meditation practices.
Yoga II-Hatha Flow is similar to Yoga I-Gentle Flow in that we watch our breathing as we flow through postures, rather than hold them statically, to awaken the spine and whole body. A flow class uses traditional postures of Hatha Yoga and couples it with fluid movement and breath to bring the student into a deep awareness of the body, breath and mind. Students are encouraged to move intuitively and organically. Students will have the opportunity to explore some more challenging postures, as compared to Yoga I Flow, if they so choose. Modifications are always offered for poses.
Carter Siegel, M.Ed. was certified to teach in 2005 through Yoga Alliance and in 2012 received her 500 hour teaching certificate in Classical Yoga from the YogaLife Institute and is continuing her studies in the 300 hour YogaLife Institute Yoga Therapy training program. She has been teaching in private and group settings to all levels of ability. For Carter, yoga has become much more than a way to stay flexible, strong and centered; it has developed into an integral and influential part of every day life. Carter has studied and practiced many styles of yoga over the years (both hard and soft) and has studied with American gurus such as David Swensen, Sean Corn, Shiva Rae, Daniel Orlansky, and Beryl Bender Birch. While her yoga foundation is based in the physical and athletic style of Ashtanga, she makes it accessible to even the newest yogi through a careful and gentle approach to identifying the needs of her students. From the newest to the advanced practitioner, Carter teaches in a clear, logical and appropriate pace and level that supports the students abilities and limitations (if any). Carter's vinyasa flow classes focus on linking breath to movement. The student will build strength, increase flexibility, and work towards realizing a greater sense of peace of mind and clarity of thought.
